FanForge is a screenwriting tool in beta, made by one person. This page says plainly what it keeps about you, what it does with it, and how to have it removed. There is nothing here you would not expect.
What FanForge keeps
- Your account. Sign-in is handled by Clerk. FanForge sees your name, email address and profile picture, and stores your email beside your account so it can tell your films are yours.
- Your writing. Films, beats, scenes, pages, characters, worlds, notes, your conversations with the room and what the story has settled are stored so you can come back to them, along with a few earlier versions of each film so a change can be undone. They are stored in a Supabase database in the European Union.
- Results waiting for you. If you leave a film while the AI is still writing for it, the finished result is kept until you come back, so it isn’t lost, and removed once it has been put in.
- Usage records. Each AI step you run leaves a line: which step, which model, how long it took, and what it drew from your credits. That is how the usage page and the credit balance work. No prompt text is stored in these records.
- How you use FanForge. While you are signed in, FanForge notes which pages you open, which film and which view you are in, when you open the room or export a script, and each minute you are actively working. These notes carry your account id and never any of your writing. They are how one person running a beta can tell what is working and what is not, and they are not shared with anyone.
- A connected AI account, if you add one. If you connect your own OpenRouter account, FanForge stores the key it is given, encrypted, so the room can write on your account instead of ours. Disconnecting deletes it.
- Preferences on your device. The theme you chose, which view of your films you like, and whether you have seen the welcome card live in your browser’s local storage, not on our servers.
What FanForge does with your writing
When you use the AI — the room, laying down the story, writing pages, a rework, a check, the outline check, the critique, story memory — the parts of your film that step needs are sent to an AI model to produce the result. During the beta that model is GLM, from Z.ai, on FanForge’s own account; when it is unavailable, FanForge may use DeepSeek or Google Gemini instead. Z.ai and DeepSeek are companies based in China. If you have connected your own AI account, the text goes to the provider you chose instead. The provider’s own privacy terms apply to each request. FanForge does not use your writing to train any model, does not sell it, and does not show it to anyone else.
Payments
There are none during the beta. Every account has 1,000 free credits and FanForge never asks for a card. No payment details are collected or stored.
Cookies
Clerk sets the cookies that keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Visits are also counted by Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which record the page, the country, the kind of device and browser, and how fast the page loaded. They use no cookies and do not know who you are.
Who else sees data
Only the services FanForge is built on, each doing one job: Clerk (sign-in), Supabase (storage), Vercel (hosting and anonymous visit counts), and the AI provider handling a request (Z.ai, or DeepSeek or Google when it falls back, or the provider you connected). No data is sold or shared for advertising.
Deleting things
You can delete any film from My films at any time: the film, its earlier versions and any result still waiting for it are removed from the database. The usage records and the notes on how you used FanForge stay, and they hold no writing.
To delete your whole account and everything attached to it, write to fanforgeapp@gmail.com from the address you sign in with; it is done by hand within a week, and you get a reply when it is. Deleting your sign-in under Manage account in the profile menu removes only the sign-in: your films stay stored until you ask for them to be deleted, or delete them yourself first.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it. Questions go to fanforgeapp@gmail.com.
